Home construction continues for elderly South Memphis woman

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Construction of a new home, for a Memphis woman better known as “Mama,” made possible by the public’s donations is nearing completion.

Its been five months since WREF first introduced Christine Marshall, better known as “Mama.” In July, the 81-year-old woman was living in a car outside her home on S. Parkway, because the dilapidated building was too dangerous to live in.

A number of donations poured in for Mama, including an offer to build her a new home for free.

Construction is up and running and what seemed to be a dream five months ago, is now nearly a reality…
