Memphis locals should prepare to navigate through a blanket of dense fog this morning as the National Weather Service in Memphis issues a Dense Fog Advisory that will remain in effect until 10 AM CST. The advisory warns of visibility reduced “to one quarter mile or less in dense fog,” covering parts of East Arkansas, Southeast Missouri, and West Tennessee.
Travel may prove to quickly become hazardous, the NWS advises drivers to “slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you”. This cautionary guidance comes as the fog may severely limit visibility and hence, increase the risk of accidents. The fog advisory details that the conditions should expect to persist through the midmorning hours.
Once the fog lifts, Memphis is headed for a somewhat balmy day with the NWS forecasting a high near 75 degrees and partially sunny skies. Wind conditions are also set to remain gentle, with a south southwest breezing at only 5 to 10 mph.
