MEMPHIS, Tenn. — It’s the kind of crime that feels impossible, until it happens to you. In Memphis and Shelby County, criminals are stealing homes without breaking a single window.
This week on WREG’s “3 at 3,” Shelby County Register of Deeds Willie Brooks and Representative Antonio Parkinson said the numbers show the crime is getting worse.
“You know, you get a piece of paper, you say it’s notarized, and you walk in there, and you know, the law does not require an ID when you’re, you know, doing a property transfer,” said TN Rep. Antonio Parkinson (D-Memphis).
