Memphis man arrested in fatal shooting that caused car crash

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Police have arrested a man they say gunned down a driver, causing the driver to crash into a car parked along a Binghampton street.

Christopher Carruthers was found dead inside a white Chevrolet Malibu in the 700 block of Merton Street.

The alleged shooter, later identified by a witness as Courtney Dougla,s was charged with first-degree murder, employment of a firearm to commit a felony, and a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

The shooting happened on Dec. 8. The next day, a woman told WREG she didn’t know the man who was shot and crashed into her sister’s car.
