Man arrested, charged with drag racing on I-240

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police arrested a man on drag racing charges early New Year’s Day, among other driving offenses.

Police say officers responded to a report of speeding vehicles on I-240 west near Lamar Ave. around 3 a.m. According to the affidavit, the Tennessee Highway Patrol Aviation Unit saw two vehicles reaching speeds of 120mph in a posted 55mph zone.

The aviation unit continued to track the vehicles to a parking lot downtown at Second St. and Gayoso Ave. The officers on the scene saw the driver still in the lead car, a red sedan…
