MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis couple is facing several charges for allegedly filing a fraudulent quitclaim deed to steal a dead woman’s home.
The value of the home on Delta Road in Southwest Memphis is over $60,000.
Police say a relative of the late homeowner discovered the fake deed.

Shterrya Cooksey and her boyfriend, Paul Dowdy, were arrested and charged with Theft of Property $60,000-$250,000, Forgery $60,000-$250,000, and Unlawful to Draw Property Transfer Documents without interest in property.
According to police, the daughter of the deceased homeowner discovered two affidavits of Heirs were filed listing a man she didn’t know as the heir to the family home. She said she also found that a quitclaim deed had been filed, showing that Cooksey obtained the property from the unknown man…
