16-year-old boy shot after confrontation in Oakhaven, police say

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A 16-year-old boy was shot following a confrontation with three people, including one he knew, in Oakhaven on Monday afternoon, police said.

According to the Memphis Police Department (MPD), the teen was with his girlfriend when he was approached by three people outside a house on Piney Woods — near Shelby Drive and Tchulahoma. The teen told investigators that they “began asking questions” about his relationship with his girlfriend, police said.

“Before he knew it,” one of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot the teen in the forearm, police said in a report. The teen told MPD that he did not know the shooter but recognized one of the other two suspects…
