MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – According to City of Memphis Mayor Paul Young, the number of serious crimes hit a 25-year low in 2025. He said as 2026 gets underway, the hard work continues, and additional intervention and prevention initiatives will be announced.
“People are feeling the difference, and I know early on, we talked about the data and the numbers, people don’t always feel the data and the numbers immediately. It takes some time before you start to feel some relief,” said Young.
Young said at the start of his term in office, they set a goal of decreasing crime by 10% each year for a total of 40% over four years. Young said he’s grateful to say they were able to meet that goal in just two years…
