MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Three years after the fatal police beating that shocked the nation, nearly 100 people gathered Wednesday evening at a candlelight vigil in Memphis to remember Tyre Nichols and demand justice.
“Three years later, and we still don’t have any justice for my son. The whole world saw what happened to my son,” said RowVaughn Wells, Nichols’ mother.
On January 7, 2023, Nichols was pulled over by police on suspicion of reckless driving. He fled on foot after being pulled from his car, pepper-sprayed and hit with a Taser.
