The Memphis Police Department is welcoming new members to its ranks with 17 Police Service Technicians (PSTs) recently joining the force. According to a social media post by the Memphis Police Department, these PST’s are set to take on significant responsibilities, including managing traffic during special events and responding to crashes throughout Memphis.
The addition of these technicians is part of MPD’s strategy for increasing public safety, a tacit acknowledgment of the ever-evolving landscape of urban policing. The department highlighted the path for these young PSTs: upon reaching the age of 21, they are expected to transition into police officers after attending further training at the academy.
