A Mississippi woman who allegedly pocketed thousands of dollars in proceeds from a high school band’s fundraisers has pleaded guilty to embezzlement.
The DeSoto County District Attorney’s Office reports that Krystina Thompson, who was involved in the band’s fundraising efforts, admitted to stealing $39,161.94 from the booster organization over a period spanning mid-2024 through early 2025. Prosecutors said the money was intended to support band activities and expenses but was instead diverted for Thompson’s personal use.
The theft was discovered after booster officials noticed that proceeds from fundraising activities, including chocolate bar sales, were not being paid to vendors as expected.
