Family secures death certificate for wrongly buried man in Memphis

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — More than six years after a man was misidentified and buried with someone else’s name, relatives say they finally have a death certificate from the state and are one step closer to giving him a proper funeral.

“We are extremely elated,” said Claire Jackson. “I’m beyond words to explain why this has taken such a long time.”

Claire Jackson said her uncle, Dennis Henry Martin, vanished from the streets of Memphis in 2019.
