Salvation Army suspends Memphis emergency shelter for women, children due to ‘significant’ funding drop

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Salvation Army is suspending new admissions to the Purdue Center of Hope, its emergency shelter for women and children in Memphis, citing a funding drop.

Aaron Keegan, executive director for Salvation Army of the Mid-South, said there has been an “extreme drop” in funding for the emergency shelter, and expenses have exceeded its revenue.

Keegan says the suspension will last at least a year…
