Car crash into pole could mark start of busy weekend for MLGW

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A car crashed into a pair of utility poles early Thursday morning in the Old Binghampton neighborhood, knocking down power lines, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

In a report, police said the driver was on Poplar Avenue when he veered off the road and struck the poles, causing his car to flip over and land upside down. Investigators said he blamed “heavy fog, visibility” for the crash.

Though he suffered minor leg pain, he refused treatment on the scene, police said. MPD said the driver was cited for striking a fixed object and for failure to maintain a safe lookout…
