Retired MPD officer receives new roof with help from community

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – A retired Memphis Police Department officer received a new roof through a community effort just as winter weather approaches the area.

My Town Roofing partnered with the Memphis Police Association to install a brand-new roof for retired officer Ronald Taylor. The project became personal for one worker whose father and uncle had worked with Taylor during his decades of service.

Ryan Dunn, senior project coordinator for My Town Roofing, said the roof had significant damage that went beyond typical wear and tear.

“We’re not talking about little pin hole leaks or nail pops or rusted nails or anything like that. We’re talking about like significant sized holes,” Dunn said. “The roof is not a cheap expense so it’s just something that we decided it needed to be done, something to help out with.”…
