Billy Bob Thorton Reveals He’s Shopped At This Iconic Memphis Store For Decades

On a recent appearance on CBS Mornings, Billy Bob Thorton took a moment to acknowledge that some of his signature style comes from a legendary Memphis spot. He shared with the morning show anchors that every article of clothing he was wearing has a story behind it, including a rather dapper dark red hat.

“This hat, there’s a store called Lansky’s in Memphis Tennessee, they dressed Elvis, Jerry Lee, Little Richard all of them. Hal Lansky is still here. I bought my first articles of clothing from there in 1975 and I still go there.”

“Billy Bob Thorton, an Arkansas native, has been part of the Lansky Brothers’ story for decades. He first came in the shop in the 1970s with his band, The Boxmasters. He gets it–the music, the attitude, the authenticity. That rock ‘n’ roll spirit is exactly what this store has stood for since our beginnings on Beale Street and continues today in our Peabody Hotel shop,” Hal Lansky, second generation owner told Southern Living.
