‘We don’t have this problem’ in Memphis, Noem says after Minneapolis shooting

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem praised local officials in Memphis for cooperating with federal officials in a crackdown by law enforcement in the city that began in October.

Noem’s comments came Saturday, as she addressed the death of Alex Pretti, a man in Minneapolis who was shot and killed by a federal immigration agent, which heightened tensions between law enforcement and protesters there.

“I’ll point to the city of Memphis, which is where there is a Democrat mayor in place,” Noem said. “He worked with us and our federal law enforcement officers, and we saw murder rates drop by 50% because of that partnership.”
