Memphis Dollar Tree Hit by Bold Daylight Theft, Suspect at Large

A store in Memphis became a recent target of theft. The incident, a calculated robbery, occurred on the afternoon of January 22 at the Dollar Tree located at 1201 Getwell Road. The suspect conducted what seemed like an ordinary transaction, only to reveal more nefarious intentions shortly after. According to the Memphis Police Department, after initially purchasing from the frozen section, the individual approached the cashier for change for a five-dollar bill, then forcibly grabbed approximately $200 in cash once the register was opened.

The boldness of the crime is underscored by the details: no weapon was seen, but the threat loomed heavy, as the suspect warned the employee not to make any moves or raise an alarm, alleging he would resort to shooting. This tactic of fear allowed the suspect to flee the scene with the stolen funds on foot, without immediate apprehension. The description of the suspect is a Black male with an estimated age range estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old. He stands roughly between 5’6” and 5’10“, sports a thin to medium build, and is distinguishable by a light mustache and goatee, as detailed by the MPD.
