MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Tennessee Governor Bill Lee delivered his final State of the State address tonight, highlighting education, the recent snow and ice storm, and the fight against crime in Memphis.
A fight, he said, must continue with more funding and state troopers.

“Now we’ve got to make it stick. Crime has plagued that city for decades; it won’t go away in six months. To that end. This year’s budget will put 80 million dollars in grants to accelerate the momentum in Memphis, and we will increase the full-time highway patrol presence by permanently placing a hundred troopers in Shelby County,” said Gov. Bill Lee.Gov. Lee said crime has hit a 25-year low in Memphis and highlighted that 146 missing children in the city have been recovered thanks to the work of a special unit.Lee said more funding will go toward strengthening efforts to make neighborhoods safer across the state.
