MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The mayor of Gallaway, Tennessee has filed a federal complaint against Tipton County authorities after he was arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop.
Jamie Mayo was arrested November 7 after Tipton County deputies said they found 0.25 grams of crack cocaine under the passenger seat of a vehicle where he was sitting. He was released on a $10,000 bond the next day.

Mayo alleges constitutional violations and unlawful detention by Tipton County in a federal complaint filed in District Court in Memphis on Friday. He is seeking $3 million in damages plus punitive damages.
He says he was not operating the vehicle that was stopped, and alleged that deputies stopped that vehicle without reasonable suspicion or probable cause.
