Memphis entrepreneur expands lawncare business with support from Grameen America

Yevetta, a resident of Memphis, Tennessee, is using her family’s lawncare business to support her neighborhood and provide opportunities for local youth. With the help of loan capital from Grameen America, she was able to purchase new equipment that has significantly increased the business’s capacity.

“I’m always looking for ways to grow the neighborhood. I grew up sitting on the front porch and waving to people passing by. When I see blight, especially in a low-income neighborhood, I just want to make the community look nice,” Yevetta said.

The business began in 2020 when Yevetta’s husband started cutting grass locally. Recognizing an opportunity for growth, Yevetta expanded their services from small residential jobs to larger contracts with the city government.
