MSCS leader says audit claims from GOP lawmakers are ’embellished’

Last week GOP lawmakers in Nashville and the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury met behind closed doors to discuss the state-funded forensic audit of MSCS. A day after the Feb. 4 meeting, GOP lawmakers told reporters that they found the reports from the auditors “concerning.”

Memphis-Shelby County Schools interim Supt. Roderick Richmond said he was informed of the meeting between lawmakers and auditors from CliftonLarsonAllen LLP after the fact during an interview with members of the print media after the Feb. 10 work session meeting of the school board,.
