MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) launched a 90-day pilot program in November and is now extending zero fares for several more weeks.
The transit service is extending the zero fares through the end of March.
MATA says overall ridership has gone up by almost 25 percent since it waived the fees.

“Zero Fare is about reimagining what transit can be for our city,” said Rodrick Holmes, MATA trustee. “What we’ve seen so far is simple, when transit is easier and more accessible, people use it.
