Passed Tennessee bill could bring delivery robots to Memphis roads

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – The Tennessee House has passed a bill that would expand where autonomous delivery robots can operate, allowing them on bike paths, road shoulders and parking lots.

Previously, devices of this type were only permitted on sidewalks and crosswalks. House Bill 1684 would make low-speed autonomous delivery robots street legal on bike lanes and road shoulders as long as they have working headlights and limit speeds to 20 miles per hour.
