Memphis, TN Weather Alert: 60 MPH Wind Risk Along I-40 And I-55 From 11AM Until 7PM Thursday

Memphis, Tenn. – Drivers across the Mid-South have a narrow window late Thursday morning to secure vehicles and adjust travel plans as isolated severe storms threaten major corridors including I-40, I-55 and I-240 beginning around 11 a.m. The primary hazard is damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, strong enough to down tree limbs and create sudden lane blockages.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, thunderstorm coverage will increase late Thursday morning, especially south of the Tennessee-Mississippi state line. A more organized window for a few strong to severe storms is expected from late afternoon into early evening, roughly between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Storm motion will track northwest to southeast, placing areas along I-22, US-78 and I-269 at risk for fast-changing conditions…
