MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis Safe Task Force vehicle was hit by gunfire Saturday night during a shots call investigation in the Raleigh neighborhood that resulted in a multi-agency response by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, and the National Guard, according to officials.
Officials made it to the 3400 block of Felton Rd. just before 10 p.m. Officials say when officers exited their vehicles, someone fire several shots at them. One vehicle was hit, but no law enforcement officers were injured, officials say.
The area at Felton Rd. off New Allen Rd. was blocked off until around 11:30 a.m. Sunday as federal officers searched a nearby wooded area.
Memphis police were called in to assist in the investigation.
WREG crews were on the scene for several hours capturing a sea of flashing blue lights and different law enforcement agencies investigating during the early morning hours.
