EEOC lawsuit claims discrimination, retaliation against Black employees at Memphis funeral home

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Claims of discrimination by Black employees have led to a federal investigation into a group that owns several funeral homes and cemeteries in the Mid-South.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, or EEOC, has filed a lawsuit against Stonemor Group, now known as Everstory Partners.

The lawsuit accuses former managers at the Forest Hill Funeral Home – East location of locking bathroom doors and breakroom entrances to keep Black employees out of them. Then, it alleges those employees were fired for reporting the behavior to a federal agency meant to protect their rights…
