Man who shot victim over 40 times gets 26-year sentence in deal

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man who shot and killed a 35-year-old in his driveway in North Memphis in 2023 was sentenced to 26 years in prison after pleading guilty to Second-Degree Murder.

The Shelby County District Attorney’s Office said as part of the plea agreement, Steffon Boatwright will have to serve 100% of his time.

Boatwright was initially charged with First-Degree Murder in the September 2023 homicide of Demarcus Wilbourn on Chelsea Avenue.
