CORDOVA, Tenn. (WMC) – Former Bellevue Baptist Church pastor Steve Gaines is in hospice care as he continues to battle cancer, according to a letter sent to the congregation.
Pastor Ben Mandrell wrote to the congregation that Gaines’ health has declined and that his family is focused on spending time with him and caring for him.
In his letter to the congregation, Mandrell wrote in part: “This is obviously a very difficult time for Steve and his family. Because of that, the family has requested not to have any visitors so they can focus on spending meaningful time together and caring for him in these days.”
In 2023, Gaines announced he had been diagnosed with kidney cancer and a year later, he announced he was stepped down from his role to focus on his health. He said it was his life mission to spread the gospel. Mandrell stepped in as pastor in July 2025…
