‘Sinners’ tribute at Oscars to feature Memphis, Mid-South musicians

Noted Memphis and Mid-South musicians Bobby Rush, Eric Gales and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram will perform at the Oscars as part of a musical tribute to the film “Sinners.”

The Oscars will take place March 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The ceremony will feature a pair of musical performances that focus on the two of the year’s big nominees, “Sinners,” which has become the most nominated film in Oscars history, and the global pop culture phenomenon “KPop Demon Hunters.”

In a statement, Oscars producer/showrunner Raj Kapoor and executive producer Katy Mullan said that the musical tributes to the two films would be “more than just performances— they expand into cinematic tributes that celebrate the relationship between music and storytelling and why these films resonated so deeply with audiences around the world.”…
