According to the affidavit, officers were called to an attempted robbery just after 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 12. The store clerk told officers a man entered the business with a black revolver, pointed it at her, and demanded money from the register, according to police.
She told police she told the suspect, identified as McDowell, that she couldn’t open the register or the safe. She said McDowell fled the store and ran into the parking lot, police say.
According to the affidavit, McDowell then ran up to a car, while waving a gun, but to his surprise members of the National Guard were in the vehicle.
