Temperatures soared across parts of the South over the past two days, tying and breaking several weather records, according to local weather reports.
On March 21, Memphis reached 84 degrees, matching the previous record set in 1907. That same day, Jackson, Tennessee, hit 87 degrees, surpassing the old record of 84 degrees from 1966.
March 22 saw even higher temperatures. Memphis climbed to 86 degrees, exceeding the previous record of 83 degrees from 1898. Tupelo reached 88 degrees, beating its prior 83-degree mark set in 1995 and 1939. Jackson, Tennessee, also hit 88 degrees, surpassing its previous high of 82 degrees from 1988.
