Man arrested after interstate pursuit near Shelby Farms faces 30 counts of charges, records show

SHELBY COUNTY, Tenn. — Records show a man who investigators said led Tennessee troopers on a chase and caused a 10-car pileup on the interstate near Shelby Farms earlier this week has been booked into the Shelby County jail.

Calvin Crutcher, 29, is facing 30 counts of charges, including reckless endangerment, assault on a first responder and evading arrest, records show.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP), it all started Wednesday evening when a trooper tried to pull over a car on eastbound Interstate 240 between Poplar Avenue and Walnut Grove. But the driver kept going, leading to a crash involving nearly a dozen cars, the agency said.

THP said the driver — later identified as Crutcher — bailed out of his car and led troopers on a foot chase near Shelby Farms. Troopers caught up to him but he resisted arrest and hurt himself and a trooper, the agency said…
