Man accused of stalking Memphis mayor in FBI custody

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The man accused of stalking Memphis Mayor Paul Young was placed under the custody of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday.

Trenton Abston, 26, was arrested and charged in June 2025 with attempted kidnapping, stalking, and aggravated criminal trespass after he allegedly scaled a fence and knocked on the mayor’s East Memphis door.

It is unclear if Abston has any federal charges.

Police say Abston had a rope, duct tape, and a taser in his possession at the time of the alleged incident.
