Puppies stolen at gunpoint from Memphis pet store, 3 charged

MEMHIS, Tenn. — Memphis police say three suspects have been charged after an armed robbery at a pet store near the Airport Area involving two stolen puppies—both of whom were recovered with no injuries.

“I think it’s horrible. The animals deserve better than crooks,” said a woman who didn’t want to be identified.

According to police, officers responded to Teon’s Puppy Palace in the 3400 block of Winchester Road on Tuesday, April 21 around 5 p.m. after reports of an armed robbery.

Investigators say a man and a woman entered the store asking about purchasing a Cane Corso puppy. While the victim showed them two puppies, the pair allegedly kept looking toward the entrance.

Moments later, two additional suspects entered the store, armed with handguns, and took the puppies before fleeing in separate vehicles — a two-door Chevrolet pickup truck and a Chevrolet SUV. Police say the puppies were valued at $2,000 each.

“If they don’t sell them, what are they going to do with them?,” the woman asked…
