MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Death row inmate Tony Carruthers’ scheduled execution is set for May 21. He’s spent more than 30 years on death row, and while he’s fighting for a stay of execution to test evidence. A Memphis father says it is overdue for Carruthers to pay for his crimes.
For the first time since the May 21st execution date for Tony Carruthers was announced, Freddrick Tucker’s father is speaking out publicly about why he plans to attend.
“I’m going because this is what you call closure on an awful situation,” said Andri Steele, Fredderick Tucker’s father.
“He can’t tell me nothing. Right now he can’t tell me nothing. I can tell him something. I forgive him for killing my son, and may God have mercy on your soul. It is time that you go meet your maker. It’s time,” said Steele.
