University of Memphis band Degenerate Breakfast played a free pumped-up show at the Back In Town Festival hosted at the Crosstown Brewing Company late Sunday afternoon. Local Memphis bands such as Honey Grove, Kingston and Jombi played as well.
“The festival today was put on by some students from the Music Industry club at UT Knoxville. They are all from Memphis, so this was kind of like a ‘back-in-town celebration’ for them,” said Liam Wilde, lead vocalist of Degenerate Breakfast and music business major at UofM. “They just asked us to play and we thought it would be fun since we’ve never played at Crosstown Brewery.”
The show started at 3:48 p.m., almost an hour after the designated time of the festival. Honey Grove opened with their set, followed by Kingston. The crowd of about 40 soon grew to about 70 during the show. Both bands performed covers of well-known songs such as Michael Jackson’s “The Way You Make Me Feel”, Charles Bradley’s “Changes”, Pearl Jam’s “Even Flow”, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ “Mary Jane’s Last Dance”, Mötley Crüe’s ” “Kickstart My Heart” and many more…
