No call too small: Trooper rescues lost duckling on Mesa highway

MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — A call about a family of ducks crossing a busy Mesa highway turned into an unexpected rescue mission, complete with a high-speed chase.

On the evening of Friday, May 22, the Arizona Department of Public Safety received a call from a concerned citizen about a mother duck and her ducklings attempting to cross State Route 24 in Mesa.

A trooper arrived in the area and found one little duckling that had gotten separated from its family. However, the scared little one ran away from the trooper, leading to a “high-speed” chase.

Thankfully, the duckling was safely wrangled and given shelter until it could be released…
