Phoenix firefighters battle massive fire after 3 buildings go up in flames

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Firefighters are working to contain fast-moving flames after three buildings caught on fire in north Phoenix early Wednesday morning.

Phoenix firefighters were called to fight the fire in a neighborhood near Cave Creek Road and Greenway Parkway around 4:15 a.m. Firefighters arrived and found three vacant buildings fully engulfed in flames.

The response was upgraded to a second-alarm due to the size of the fire, with roughly 90 firefighters called to contain the blaze. Handlines and elevated streams are being used to douse the flames.

A spokesperson with Phoenix Fire says crews are in a defensive position, meaning they will not enter the buildings out of the safety of firefighters…
