2 arrested after woman claimed she was held underwater at Salt River

A father and daughter were arrested after they “pushed” and “grabbed” a deputy as the daughter was questioned about a fight that happened near the rope used to climb the Mud Cliffs at the Salt River, according to court documents.

Around 7 p.m. May 24, Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call from a woman who said she was assaulted and held underwater by another woman, spokesperson David Moyer said.

The woman had visible injuries, including “marks around her neck and a torn swimsuit,” court documents said…
