Arizona mom pleads guilty to ESA fraud after moving to Texas

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An Arizona mother plead guilty in court to collecting ESA voucher funds after moving to Texas, becoming the latest case raising questions about oversight of the state’s education program.

Amanda Elizabeth Maestas took a guilty plea with the Attorney General’s Office and must pay $28,433.19 in restitution to the ESA Program and will serve a term of supervised probation. State education auditors spotted the problem and referred the case to the State Attorney Generals office.
