PHOENIX — A beloved neighborhood tree in Ahwatukee that has served as a community gathering point for nearly a decade was cut down overnight, leaving neighbors searching for answers.
For nearly 10 years, the “Ahwatukee Giving Tree” has been decorated for holidays and special occasions, including Christmas, Mardi Gras, Valentine’s Day, Easter and back-to-school season. Community members could also find small gifts, including treats for dogs and pencils for children.
“It’s always a bright spot when we would take our dog, Jasper, for a walk every morning to see how the tree was decorated,” one neighbor said…
