The Arizona Board of Education approved a second round of grant awards to fund school safety personnel across the state, pulling $53 million from the state School Safety Program’s carryover reserves.
Mesa Public Schools was a major beneficiary.
MPS, the top East Valley recipient in the first round of awards, will receive nearly $1.2 million more. The additional awards will fund school counselors, social workers and school resourc e officers across nine MPS campuses.
