Man sentenced for causing Gilbert crash that killed Lyft driver, passenger

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Mesa man who was drunk when he caused a crash in Gilbert that killed a Lyft driver, her passenger and her dog last year has learned his punishment.

Court officials said Friday that Robb Hintzsche, 35, was sentenced to 24 years in prison during a hearing in Phoenix.

On Sept. 19, 2025, Hintzsche had a blood alcohol content of 0.287 when he ran a red light at Recker and Ray roads and crashed into the car of Nicole Snell, 36, who was working as a rideshare driver with her dog and had picked up Marisa Jorgenson, 33.

The impact caused Snell’s car to spin and slam into a traffic pole on the northwest corner of the intersection…
