Driver admits to 100+ mph ‘tire test’ on Tempe freeway, troopers say

TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — A Valley driver wanted to see what his new tires could do. Instead, he found out what the inside of a trooper’s patrol car looks like.

A trooper was stationed on a Loop 202 Red Mountain overpass near Priest Drive on Aug. 23 when a red SUV blew past, weaving around slower traffic, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
