Peoria man indicted in $20 million Arizona Medicaid fraud case

A Peoria man is accused of defrauding Arizona’s Medicaid system to rake in millions of dollars.

The recent indictment of 48-year-old Maurice Williams says he owned and ran a behavioral health treatment center in Phoenix.

Williams faces charges of healthcare fraud and money laundering. He is alleged to have billed the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, or AHCCCS, more than $33 million, for which he was paid about $20 million…
