Crews respond to water rescues as storms move through Phoenix area

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Storms packing heavy rain are causing flooding conditions in parts of Maricopa County, as well as at least one water rescue south of the Valley.

Just after 2 p.m., multiple vehicles could be seen stranded in standing water on the Loop 101 on-ramp at Princess Drive in Scottsdale. Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) trooper vehicles pushed those vehicles out of the water by 2:40 p.m.

Around 12:30 p.m., first responders were called to a water rescue along State Route 238 near milepost 25 between Maricopa and Gila Bend. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reports that a car with two people inside is stuck in a wash. An MCSO rescue helicopter was called to the scene.
