Man gets 20 years for selling fatal dose of fentanyl to Mesa father of 2

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Valley man will spend two decades behind bars for selling a fatal dose of fentanyl to a father of two, Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell announced Wednesday.

James Amalfi, 45, was sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of manslaughter, a Class 2 felony.

The case stems from December 2024, when Mesa police responded to a home to check on an unresponsive man. The victim’s wife, who was in the hospital after giving birth to the couple’s second child, asked her mother to check on her husband when she could not reach him.
