Family of autistic man found dead outside Mesa care facility awaits police findings

MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — Nearly four months after a man with autism died inside a transport van outside his Mesa adult care facility, his family is holding off on a wrongful death lawsuit while police finish their criminal investigation.

Lorenzo Lopez died in June after being left in a van outside Pathways for Life. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Lopez died of heat exposure, according to family attorney Kurt Maahs.
