Chef Matt Carter to Open Dash in Scottsdale This Fall

Chef Matt Carter and business partner Brian Raab are preparing to open Dash, a new all-day restaurant and retail market coming to Scottsdale this fall. The concept from Broken Plate Hospitality will serve coffee, pastries, sandwiches, Roman-style pizza, charcoal chicken, soft-serve ice cream, and other rotating dishes alongside a market stocked with prepared foods and pantry staples.

Slated to open near Hayden Road and Mountain View Road, Dash marks Broken Plate Hospitality’s first new concept in a decade. Carter and Raab formed their partnership in 2008 to open the first location of The Mission in Old Town Scottsdale. Broken Plate Hospitality has since grown to include Zinc Bistro, a French-inspired restaurant; The Mission, focused on modern Latin cuisine; and Fat Ox, which draws from regional Italian cooking.

“This is our most approachable concept to date, giving us total freedom to adapt to the mood, moment, and daypart,” says Raab, in a press release. “I can do tequila shots with you at The Mission and pour Negronis at Fat Ox, but Dash is the ultimate neighborhood hang to grab a morning coffee, catch up over lunch, or share a bottle of wine at sunset and then take one home with you.”

A Neighborhood Concept Years in the Making

Dash is built around the idea of “Dash in, dash out, morning, noon, and night,” with service designed to accommodate everything from morning coffee runs to leisurely evening meals. Carter, an Arizona Culinary Hall of Fame chef, has lived in McCormick Ranch for 17 years and developed the restaurant with the surrounding neighborhood in mind. Carter is joined in the kitchen by longtime Fat Ox pastry chef Lisa Graf, who will help develop the concept’s pastry program.

“I’ve been dreaming of this concept for ten years, driving past this exact space several times a week wishing our community had a real neighborhood joint,” says Carter, in a press release. “Dash is a culmination of my personal culinary passions, and things I’ve wanted to do but haven’t fit at our other restaurants like sandwich-making, Roman pizza, charcoal chicken, soft-serve, pizza pasta, all paired with Lisa’s incredible talent in the pastry kitchen. It’s an effortless neighborhood gathering place built around food people actually crave and want to eat every single day.”

What’s on the Menu at Dash

Dash will begin each day with gourmet coffee and freshly baked pastries, with premium sandwiches among the offerings planned throughout the day. The culinary program will expand to include Roman-style pizzas, charcoal chicken, soft-serve ice cream, and daily specials determined by the culinary team…
